THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS favorites

The Magic School Bus favorites will come to life on stage. Using creative dramatics and traditional rehearsal techniques, children will work with Allyson Moon and students from the Southwestern College Theatre Department on development of acting, storytelling, and other performance skills. The SCHOOL BUS plays will be in performance on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10 in the Helen Graham Little Theatre on the Southwestern College Campus.

Musical Theatre Performance

From a variety of contemporary musicals including Moana and Beauty and the Beast

Musical Theatre scenes, songs, and dances will be developed using creative dramatics and traditional rehearsal techniques. Characters from contemporary musical productions will come to life on stage. Children will work with Allyson Moon and students from the Southwestern College Theatre Department on development of acting, singing, and dancing performance skills. They will perform a musical theatre review of their work on Friday, June 16th at 11 a.m. in Messenger Recital Hall on the Southwestern College Campus.

Improvisational Acting

If improvisational acting is something you love to do or if it is something that you would love to try, this class is for you. All levels of experience are welcome. Theatre gaming will primarily be used in process and performance. Original characters and scenes will be developed. Actors will meet in Messenger Recital Hall to work with Allyson Moon and members of SC's improv troupe, 9 LIVES. The class will finish with an improvisational acting review on Friday, July 14 at 11 a.m. in the Messenger Recital Hall on the Southwestern College Campus. .

Youth Theatre Camp

Do you love acting but are also fascinated by the lights, sets, costumes, make-up and more? Then this Youth Theatre Camp is for you. During this camp, participants will develop their skills acting while being exposed to all aspects of technical theatre. Working with Allyson Moon and the SC Summer Theatre Interns you will rehearse characters from and assist in the development of the production elements of The Magic School Bus favorites. The School Bus plays will be in performance on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10 in the Helen Graham Little Theatre on the Southwestern College Campus.

Playwrighting

Original scenes and short plays will be developed using a variety of playwrighting exercises and writing techniques. Writers will meet in Darbeth 105 and work with Roger Moon and SC’s Summer Theatre Interns on the development of ideas, action, conflict, scenes, characters, and dialogue. The class will finish with a staged reading of scenes on Friday, July 14 at 11 a.m. in Messenger Recital Hall on the Southwestern College Campus.
